Proposed changes to councils in Derby and Derbyshire Have your say.

The way local councils in England are organised is being fundamentally changed for the first time in 50 years.

Published: 14 July 2025

Derbyshire’s eight district and borough councils and Derby City Council are working together to propose a new structure that best meets the needs of local communities. Consultation is currently taking place to gather feedback before final proposals are submitted to Government and the public, key stakeholders, and organisations from across Derby and Derbyshire are encouraged to take part to help shape how local services will be delivered in Derbyshire in the future. Detailed information about the proposals can be found by visiting Local Government Reorganisation | Erewash Borough Council and is also included in the attached 2025 Derbyshire Stakeholder document.

Information and link to the consultation questionnaire (which will take about 10 minutes to complete) responses must be submitted by Sunday 10 August 2025.
