Grow a pollinator patch-
By growing some pollinator friendly flowers in our gardens, we can make a massive impact on wildlife and the environment. As well as pollinating crops, these insects provide a vital source of food for birds and mammals.
• Try to include plants that cater for all parts of an insect’s lifecycle
• Select a range of flower shapes to provide for different types of insects
• Try to include species that flower in early spring and late autumn
• Provide water for pollinators using a shallow container with pebbles and keep it topped up and clean
You could also try making habitat bundles using spring pruning by binding them together using twine and placing them in a sheltered corner of your garden.
Remember to keep your bird baths topped up so birds can drink fresh water and keep their feathers
in good condition
No Mo May
The month of May is the time to pack the lawnmower away and let your lawn and wildflowers grow in order to help nature. No lawn is too small and even the smallest wild patch can provide vital food needed by bees and butterflies. There is lots of information and resources at
