Summer is officially here so the PC Environment Action group have got a few more top tips if you are keen to keep doing your bit for our local environment and wildlife :

1. You may have taken part in No Mow May have you heard of Let it Bloom June?
• Why not leave a space in your garden for nature to continue to bloom this June by keeping some areas of your lawn short but consider framing these with a longer flowering lawn that you only
mow every 4-8 weeks, or even leave an area unmown for the rest of the summer

2. If you are taking a trip to a local garden centre, please consider adding some native plants to your garden to help a wide range of wildlife. Could you make some space for plants such as Foxgloves,
Borage, Ox-eye daisy, Honeysuckle, Bugle and Cornflowers?
3. If you can, please let dandelions, docks, chickweed and nettles grow, perhaps at the back of a border or in a quiet corner as they all provide essential food and shelter for native wildlife species.
4. Start a log pile – all sorts of wildlife including invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians and hedgehogs love a log pile. Simply pile up logs and branches of all different sizes and finish with smaller twigs and
herbaceous material on top.
5. Remember to leave a low-level, shallow dish of water in your garden for any wild visitors such as hedgehogs and birds. If you add gravel or small stones for them to land on, bees and butterflies will
also be able to drink for the dish.
